The Indian Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (CGPDT) recently passed a Public Notice dated 19 June 2020 stating that the periods for the completion of various proceedings, filing of any reply or document, payment of fees, etc. falling due after 15 March 2020, shall be extended. The notice was passed after the Association of Intellectual Property Law Attorneys raised contentions against GGPDT for providing unreasonable deadline.
The Delhi High Court, in the light of Covid conditions, had stayed the effect and operation of Public Notices that the CGPDT had previously passed setting deadlines for filings. Thus, the date for any filings, fee payment etc. would be notified on the official website once the Delhi High Court passes an order.
